Summit to focus on SC's clean energy future
SC Clean Energy Summit takes place in July in Columbia; industry, government officials to discuss how SC can advance clean energy research and practice
Registration is now open for the second annual South Carolina Clean Energy Summit July 11, 2013, in Columbia. The summit is being hosted by the South Carolina Clean Energy Business Alliance (SCCEBA).
The summit will bring together clean energy business leaders and representatives from across the Southeast to attend sessions on solar, wind, biomass, hydrogen and fuel cells, energy efficiency, clean energy project finance, clean transportation and recycling. Session panelists represent industry, academia, and government institutions, including the Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research, Santee Cooper, Sonoco, SPARC, the South Carolina Research Authority and more.
Suzanne Watson from the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy will give a lunchtime address and presentation on how South Carolina achieved a 6th-in-the-nation rating in energy efficiency improvement.
Also at lunch, a $5,000 check will be presented to a team from Clemson University that won a SCCEBA-sponsored energy efficiency contest. More than 40 Clemson undergraduate and graduate students participated in the contest, in which students were asked to find ways to make the mobile home—one of the least energy-efficient types of housing in South Carolina—a model of energy efficiency.
Online registration and more details about the summit are available at http://bit.ly/ZSdujk. Early-bird discounts on summit registration are available until May 31, 2013.
The summit will take place at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center at 1101 Lincoln Street.
